From a small boatbuilding operation to three operating locations.
Christ Boatyard was established in 2003 under Mr. Selvaraj at Kadingurum, near Poovar. With around eight employees, the yard built its first model, the T32, and grew through practical experience and a close understanding of fishermen’s needs.
In 2018, the company relocated to Chalakara, Kulathur Panchayat. In 2022, it moved to its current main facility near Poovar Checkpost. Today, operations span Poovar, Kochupally, and Thengapattanam, with the next generation continuing the family business.

Mr. Selvaraj
Founder & Owner — Christ Boatyard
Christ Boatyard began in 2003 under the leadership of Mr. Selvaraj, building dependable fishing boats for people whose livelihoods depend on the sea.
Starting at Kadingurum near Poovar with around eight employees and the first T32 model, the business grew through practical experience into a multi-location operation, delivering more than 5,000 boats and expanding its fishing-vessel range to approximately 24–85 feet.
His leadership remains the foundation for the next generation, with fishermen’s needs, experience and workmanship at the heart of the business.
